Many homes have water purifying systems that use salt to automatically clean the filtering media at night. Unfortunately the salt doesn’t all wash out of the filter and this can drastically affect your plants. I have been an interior plant tech for years and have actually serviced plants in homes with these filters and did not know they were there. It’s our job to ask questions.

This is our first post and I hope to be able to answer some questions that you might have in the future. We here in Hawaii are very lucky because it is easy to grow our plants outside year around and that way we can rotate to shady houses and shady yard areas. But plants acclimate to being in the house quite easily. We could have lots of discussions about just this. So much depends on the amount of light available in certain areas of the home and what plant you choose for those areas. Finding the right plant that is the right size for a particular spot is all important.  The plants with large dark green leaves in general need much less light than a variegated or colorful plant might need. But we can talk more about this next time. If I have helped explain anything to anybody I am glad. The whole idea of having outdoor plants and bringing them indoors to live seems silly, but you too can make it work for you and when you do it opens up a whole new world for you.
